Preserving early Whittier records

The Whittier Chronicle operates as an independent non-commercial archive cataloging pioneer ledgers, orchard deeds, and family glass plates from the 1887 Quaker settlement in the Puente Hills foothills.

Archival ethics

Unretouched historical evidence

Every ledger entry, plat map, and family portrait preserved here follows strict archival reproduction guidelines. Negatives are digitized at twenty-four hundred optical dots per inch without digital noise reduction or interpretive alterations.

Historical integrity requires preserving water damage, emulsion fissures, and marginal pencil annotations. These authentic physical traces provide vital context for researchers, genealogists, and descendants documenting early agricultural life.
